University of Miami Health System’s Pain Management Center is the leading multidisciplinary pain management facility in the Southeast. The Pain Management Center offers state-of-the-art pain relief treatment and education to patients with acute and chronic pain.
Patients receive an independent medical evaluation, a multidisciplinary analysis of their pain syndrome, and treatment tailored to their individual needs. Non-invasive pain reducing procedures, like physical therapy or exercises, are also considered before surgery.
When surgery is necessary, procedures include:
- Placement of spinal-cord stimulators
- Delivering of morphine directly into the spine through implantation of pumps
- Percutaneous rhizotomy
- Dorsal root entry zone (DREZ) lesions
- Percutaneous cordotomy for cancer pain
