Gymnast Walks Again After Devastating Fall

Twenty-year-old Jorge Valdes’ close call to paralysis came last Thursday during a routine practice for tryouts for a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas. A week after the incident, Jorge is walking out of the hospital. Dr. Steven Vanni, a UM/Jackson neurosurgeon, operated on Jorge and is stunned by the outcome.
