Residency and Fellowship Program Overview
The Neurosurgical Training Program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is characterized by an abundance and a variety of clinical experience, rich research opportunities and the commitment of its faculty to resident education. We are the only university academic medical center in southeast Florida serving the Dade County population of 2.5 million people, with a wider three-county referral area of 4.5 million people. We also receive a number of complicated neurosurgical referrals from Latin America. Our greatest source of pride is the quality and the commitment of our residents and fellows. Observership Program
In keeping with its commitment to global exchange, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has established the Observership Program. This program is open to qualified foreign nationals who wish to visit the University and its affiliated hospitals for a maximum of 90 days to observe the activities of a department. To qualify for an Observership in Neurosurgery, you must be currently enrolled in a Neurological Surgery Training Program in a "non-LCME Accredited" University, or have been invited by a Faculty Member in our Department as a Visiting Scholar of Neurosurgery.
Observer status means that visiting students may not have any direct patient contact or be responsible in any measure for patient care. They may observe on rounds, follow resident and attending physicians and may participate in departmental conferences.
